Kelman Bottles, LLC has reached agreement to supply glass containers to Labatt Breweries of Canada, a division of global conglomerate Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Kelman, based near Pittsburgh in Glenshaw, will supply Labatt with its annual glass container requirements for its Brava brand in Canada. Brava is a Mexican-style beer that Labatt acquired in 2007.

Kelman, a privately held company that operates what was formerly known as the Glenshaw Glass Company, described the approval process for Labatt as intensive, taking nearly two years.

“Becoming a qualified supplier to Labatt is among the most significant achievements for a producer of glass containers,” said the company in a prepared statement. “This remarkable achievement is a testament to the commitment, skill and dedication of the glass makers at Kelman Bottles working closely with the due diligence and purchasing professionals at Labatt throughout the approval process.”

Kelman didn’t divulge how many bottles it expects to produce for Labatt.

The company has already begun supplying the bottles to Labatt, which are now being filled with beer at the company’s Hamilton, Ontario brewery.

Kelman operates in a variety of glass production niches, producing glass containers for the food and beverage markets, decorative glass, and fine hand-made glass sold by retailers. The company group markets its glassware under the brand names LE Smith Glass, Saint George Crystal and Glenshaw Glass Company, among others.
