Pilkington is delighted to announce that from May 5 2009 it will be providing its energy efficient glazing, Pilkington energiKare™ Classic, as standard in all IGUs which incorporate Pilkington K Glass™ and Pilkington Optifloat™. Pilkington customers will now be able to receive units with added-value for the same price as a basic Pilkington K Glass™ unit, help their business in difficult times and in turn help more homeowners save energy and money off their fuel bills.

Pilkington energiKare™ Classic is the new name for Pilkington energiKare™, which was launched in 2007. Combining two leading Pilkington products, Pilkington Optiwhite™ and Pilkington K Glass™, with a standard aluminium spacer bar, can reduce net heat loss from windows by up to 90 per cent, when upgrading from single glazing. At the same time, it allows in more heat and light from the sun, contributing positively to a home’s energy requirements. It can also help to achieve a British Fenestration Rating Council Window Energy Rating of C or above, in line with the forthcoming changes to Part L of the Building Regulations in 2010.

Since its launch, Pilkington energiKare™ has gone from strength to strength, with more than 350 companies signing up to its ‘Partner’ programme and benefitting from the marketing activity that surrounds the energy efficient glazing. The scheme has proved so successful that Pilkington has added an ‘Associate’ scheme to encourage more window companies to benefit from supplying Pilkington energiKare™ in advance of registration of their windows with the British Fenestration Rating Council.1

Andy McDowell, National Business Development Manager, Pilkington, said: “The launch and subsequent success of Pilkington energiKare™ confirmed the latent demand for energy efficient, cost-saving products. By providing Pilkington energiKare™ Classic as standard to our customers we are offering them an added-value product which has a greater value to the homeowner and is therefore an opportunity for window companies to reflect this in their sales. We’re looking to help their top and bottom line performance.1

“We have recently moved all our manufacturing of the glass components of Pilkington energiKare™ to the UK and are looking to share the subsequent cost savings from this with our IGU customers and existing and new Pilkington energiKare™ Processor Partners. This will benefit all those involved, right down to the energy-conscious homeowners.

“Customers can pass on this added-value offering to homeowners by supplying them with energy efficient windows that are rated C or above and are eligible for accreditation under the Energy Saving Trust’s Energy Saving Recommended scheme – a signpost for consumers to products that will save energy and help to reduce their fuel bills.”
