Aluminum industry organizations have launched a new green building initiative. International Aluminum Institute (IAI) chairman Artem Volynets, director for corporate strategy, UC Rusal, officially announced the initiative-a new green architecture website:
"Through the IAI, the aluminum industry aims to promote a wider understanding of its products and manufacturing processes and to affect positively the sustainability of the industry, the communities in which it operates and the global communities that rely on its products everyday," says Volynets.
The Aluminum Association's chairman Kevin Anton, president, Alcoa Materials Management, announced the establishment of a Building & Construction (B&C) Committee earlier this year. The B&C Committee will aid sustainability messaging through the research of end-of-life recycling rates and use-phase environmental benefits of aluminum, along with other marketing efforts. Anton says the committee was proud to partner with global aluminum associations to develop the new green building website and future sustainability initiatives.
"We congratulate IAI on developing a unique and highly useful tool for those who design the next generation of attractive, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly buildings," says Anton. "Through the Aluminum Association's Building & Construction Committee, we look forward to partnering with IAI to reach out to specifiers and customers to tell our story of added value and sustainability."
