WSJ: LG Display CEO says LCD oversupply is not a worry in Q4

Post Time:Jul 21,2009Classify:Company NewsView:246

A story in today's Wall Street Journal quotes LG Display Chief Executive Kwon Young-soo as saying that the possible glut of flt panel displays in the fourth quarter is not a concern. Specifically, he says "The glass shortage appears to be pretty serious. There could be a slight oversupply in the late fourth or in the early part of the first quarter... but it doesn't seem easy for Taiwan (LCD) companies to run their factories at full tilt due to the glass shortage."

The article goes on to say that "LCD makers in Asia are experiencing a shortage of key panel components such as glass, but demand for flat panels is improving, thanks to the seasonally strong sales period when PC and television sales typically pick up due to the back-to-school and holiday shopping season."
