The impressive sound of SGG STADIP SILENCE

Saint-Gobain Glass is proving that it has the most modern range of products to meet today’s glazing requirements, with the ongoing promotion of SGG STADIP SILENCE.

Noise can have a damaging effect on our health, with symptoms including high blood pressure, loss of sleep, lack of concentration, and even depression. And if you imagine the amount of noise modern society creates, you can understand the importance of creating oases of silence. A recent study carried out by the European Heart Journal (Feb 2008) found that people living within the vicinity of four major European airports suffered adverse reactions to noise, even while they were asleep.

Another study – this time by Ducker Research – found that protection from high noise levels was just as important for people buying windows as thermal insulation, burglary and solar protection. Noise protection is already a legal requirement in the workplace, there to prevent workers from noise-related stress.

However, it is possible to protect yourself from high noise levels and new literature published by Saint-Gobain Glass offers clear and concise advice on how to make the most out of a product that can prevent debilitating and lasting harm from noise pollution. It describes how SGG STADIP SILENCE has a laminating layer sandwiched between two sheets of glass, which prevents the unit from resonating, therefore significantly reducing the passage of sound. This works across a range of frequencies so that most noise is dampened in the majority of glazing applications such as facades, conservatories, internal partitions and windows.

Since the principle qualities of SGG STADIP SILENCE are provided by the special interlayer, it stops any dips in acoustic performance and, dependent on glass thickness, specifiers and homeowners can improve acoustic insulation by up to 10dB over normal float glass. In addition other Saint-Gobain products can be used such as SGG PLANITHERM and SGG BIOCLEAN. The thinner and lighter specification of the glass also offers excellent acoustic performance to be enjoyed in standard profiles.

The brochure explains how SGG STADIP SILENCE is ideal for use in large patio doors and conservatories as the interlayer filters up to 99% of UV radiation to help prevent the fading of furnishings and decorations. The glass also enjoys the proven safety and security benefits of laminated glass with superb light transmission; in fact SGG STADIP SILENCE has the appearance of standard glazing but with the added benefit of extraordinary performance.
