Fenton Art Glass is launching a "Fenton Glass Treasure Hunt" contest in conjunction with Fenton family signing events being held at Fenton dealers in upcoming months.

Family signing events are scheduled for the Fenton Gift Shop in Williamstown from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 5; 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6; and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7.

Fenton family members and Fenton historian James Measell will help identify glass items for the Fenton Glass Treasure Hunt contest during these times. Everyone is encouraged to bring in glass items even if they aren't sure if it's made by Fenton.

Prizes will be awarded for rare, old or particularly interesting Fenton pieces as determined by the Fenton family member and company historian. Winners will go on to the national contest for a chance to win one of two $500 shopping sprees at any Fenton dealer in America.

"Many people may have Fenton glass made between 1907 and 1970, but they really don't know exactly what they have," said Scott K. Fenton, vice president of sales. "We're inviting them to bring those mystery pieces to the Fenton dealers who are holding Fenton family signing events in the next few months."

A complete list of dealers hosting Fenton family signing events is available on the Fenton Web site,
