In the 911 anniversary of the terrorist attacks, U.S. scientists said they invented a new type of explosion-proof glass, thinner and lighter than the existing glass, stronger on the resilience of small-scale explosion. The glass can better be used against terror attacks.
U.S. Federal Building and other important government offices will be installed in explosion-proof glass to guard against the potential risk of terrorist attacks. However, the previous explosion-proof glass is usually very thick and expensive.
Scientists said: "We invented the glass thinner than half an inch. As the new explosion-proof glass is thinner than the existing glass, it needs fewer resources and cheaper cost.” Conventional explosion-proof glass is a strong plastic layer sandwiched between two layers of glass, while the new glass will be replaced with a transparent plastic layer of glass fiber layer, the glass fiber is only half of a human hair thick. Scientists said the new explosion-proof glass could prevent from terrorist attacks and could also be used to protect the residential from hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters.
