That's Snow Business For AGC Glass

Post Time:Nov 26,2009Classify:Company NewsView:513

The stunning glass façade of Britain’s latest indoor snow sports destination features AGC’s Stopray T ‘all climate’ glass with a high performance toughenable coating. Using the latest snow canon technology, the new £23 million Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead provides an ‘Alpine’ surface that’s perfect for runs down the huge 160m main slope.
The superb light and energy performance of AGC’s Stopray Indigo 48T dark blue body tinted glass proved an ideal solution for the project’s exacting temperature and solar control specification. The correct indoor climate must be maintained to preserve the Centre’s thousands of tonnes of snow in pristine condition. Stopray Indigo 48T combines a 48% light transmission level with 8% light reflection and a solar factor of 29% in a 6-16-4 assembly.
Glass processors System 3 worked closely with AGC and curtain walling contractor, MB Glass, to meet the project’s specific performance criteria. A total of 700m 2 of AGC glass was used in the production of sealed units for the Snow Centre with an overall U value of 1.1 W/(m ².K). Units of approximately 2,850mm x 1,800mm in size consist of a 6mm Stopray Indigo 48T dark blue tinted outer pane and 6mm clear toughened inner pane. As an added value service, System 3 also applied Ritec’s ClearShield glass surface protection system to the outside of the glass to reduce cleaning and ensure the glass performs to specification for longer.
