Barclays Bank Pakistan formally inaugurated its Fibre Glass Class project with Care-n-Cure, at Moladad Goth, which is a medium sized village on the border of Sindh and Baluchistan.

The Fibre Glass Class project will provide education to children by establishing Centres for Social Mobilization (CSM) in rural areas. This is being achieved through installation of portable and recyclable units made of fibre glass which work as classrooms. These units are easy to erect, dismantle and transport from village to village.

Commenting on the prospects of the project, Umaima Sohaib, Head of Corporate Affairs, Barclays Pakistan, said: While Barclays Pakistan has been involved in community work since its inception, this project is indeed a unique one. We are trying to equip the people in this village with basic literacy, hygiene and health awareness, confident that they will then be in a better position to manage their lives and future.

Sharing his views on the project Dr. Babar Saeed, Honorary Chief Executive of Care-n-Cure, said, The aim of this project is to offer accessible education integrated with basic health services to underprivileged children and adults in rural Pakistan. The help of organizations like Barclays strengthens our resolve to stay focused and ensure longer-term benefits for the community. Under this initiative, children are being taught reading, writing and basic health and hygiene skills. The units will also be used to hold health workshops for their parents and other adults of the village. The impact of the Fibre Glass Class project is already apparent as the community leaders have jointly under taken the literacy drive with Care-n Cure. They are convinced that this is a way of ensuring a better life for the residents of their community.
