Leybold Optics, based in Alzenau, Germany, has introduced the “Hot Apollon”, the latest version of its innovative glass coating system.
The Apollon, with its flexible, modular design and low power consumption, is already a proven economical and reliable platform for production of low E, and other solar control coatings on architectural glass up to “jumbo” size (3.21 x 6.1m).
The “Hot Apollon” increases this flexibility, using sputter coating technology to deposit advanced multilayer coatings onto glass panels at elevated temperatures. The real time monitoring system, and automated deposition control with lambda sensors, guarantees unrivalled process consistency and productivity. For thin film PV coating “Hot Apollon” can be used, for example, for deposition of transparent conductive oxides (TCO) contact layers.
Use of rotary cathodes gives a low cost of ownership through maximum utilization of material, fewer target changes, and higher layer quality. Leybold Optics’ extensive experience and process know how ensure optimization of layer properties for all applications.
Apollon is one of a family of large area deposition systems produced by Leybold Optics for glass coating and thin film PV manufacturing.
