DAGUPAN CITY, Sept 26 (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) pulled a surprise inspection on the province’s flat glass industry and found no dealer flat-footed.
Director Peter Mangabat, of DTI- Pangasinan, said flat glass dealers and retailers in the cities of Dagupan and San Carlos including the towns of Mangaldan and Calasiao were found to be selling products that are certified to have complied with product standards.
“So far, the retailers monitored were found to be selling and displaying certified and standard flat glass products,” Mangabat said.
The DTI was accompanied by glass industry representative Wilson Agno of AGC Flat Glass Philippines Incorporated in conducting the inspection.
Mangabat advised consumers to patronize only certified flat glass products and other products such as household appliances, electrical and construction materials covered by mandatory standards.
He said consumers and business establishments should both check the presence of the Product Safety (PS) seal and ICC quality standard markings as proof that the products have passed standard requirements. (MCA/VHS PIA1-Pangasinan/DTI)
