The high performance of DuPont™ SentryGlas® polymer interlayer made it the most suitable material for the stations and platforms of Mexico City's new Subway Golden Line 12.
The Golden Line runs from Tláhuac to Mixcoac, and uses approximately 25,000 m2 of SentryGlas®. Originally, a 1.52 mm thick PVB interlayer was the material they were going to use, but after comparing this with SentryGlas® 0.9 mm thick interlayer, they decided to use the latter, primarily because the thickness of the glass gave better safety performance, weight, stiffness and clarity. SentryGlas® was used in the platform and facades of the subway.
Carlos MacGregor, designer of all subway lines in Mexico City, commented:
"The excellent rigidity and safety performance of DuPont™ SentryGlas® convinced us that it was the most suitable material for protecting the passengers on this project."
This is reflective of DuPont's commitment to working with business and governments to create a safer world for people to live in.
