Tokyo, July 30, 2012—AGC (Asahi Glass Co., Ltd.; Head Office: Tokyo; President & CEO: Kazuhiko Ishimura) was awarded a Bronze Class rating in recognition of its initiatives for sustainability in the 2012 CSR survey of Sustainable Asset Management (SAM), the world’s leading Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) rating company which is in charge of investigations for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI).
SAM comprehensively evaluates the world’s 2,500 largest companies by market capitalization according to sustainability of Economic, Environmental, and Social criteria, and rates particularly excellent companies within the top 15%. In the Building Materials & Fixtures sector, to which AGC belongs, AGC was rated Bronze Class in recognition of its group-wide initiatives for reducing the environmental impact and continuing dialogs with stakeholders. The Company was also named Sector Mover as the company that has achieved the largest proportional improvement in its sustainability performance compared to the previous year in the Building Materials & Fixtures sector.
