The 104-story One World Trade Center in New York City should open its doors for occupation in late 2013 as one of the most environmentally friendly buildings of its size worldwide, according to an Oct. 10 Greener Ideal report.
The building features green technologies both in its construction and in some of its functional features, including a daylighting system using dynamic solar-controlled glass with automatic dimmers, which significantly reduce power consumption, according to the report. The dimmers have been strategically located in all spaces that are within 15 feet of the building’s ultra-clear glass windows.
The building will receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification upon completion, Greener Ideal reports. See the One WTC glazing installation and spire progress.
