AIA Building Envelope Symposium Set for May 23 in Tampa

Crawford-Tracey has teamed up with Centria Architectural Systemsand Glass Magazine to present the AIA Building Envelope Symposium, May 23, at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Tampa, Fla. The half-day event will focus on the structural integrity of high performance commercial glazing and metal systems in relation to the building envelope. It isAIA accredited for four (4) learning units and qualifies for Health, Safety and Welfare.

“The Southeast offers special challenges for architects designing for the region’s storm-prone, hot climate,” said Ray Crawford, president, Crawford-Tracey, in a release. “We will bring together some of the region’s top experts to focus on the latest technological developments and trends in designing the building envelope.”

The symposium will include a presentation by Chris Matthews of Glazing Consultants Internationalon water infiltration of the building envelope, as well as a live demonstration of an ASTM E1105 Water Test.

Other presentations will include “Elements of Metal Wall System Performance” by Dean Kauthen of Centria Architectural Systems; “Understanding Pre-Glazed Unitized Curtain Wall Systems” by Bill Bonner of Crawford-Tracey; and, “Architectural Glass: Performance and Trends,” presented by Bob Ford of Viracon. The event will conclude with an industry executive panel discussion that will allow time for a question and answer session.

The registration cost for the five-hour program, including breakfast and lunch, is $20 when ordered in advance online, or $30 at the door.
