The Mississauga plant of SapaExtrusions North America, headquartered in Rosemont, Ill.,has acquired a new state-of-the-art horizontal paint line scheduled to be in full operation by June 2011 at its Guelph facility, according to a March 21 release. Capabilities of the new equipment provide a complete complement to the vertical paint line currently in operation at the Mississauga facility.
The advanced design of the horizontal paint line is fully automated and incorporates a 1,050-foot-long production line. It provides the ability to paint both liquid and powder coat custom colors, especially high-performance fluoropolymers, a three coat system, for a wide range of architectural and commercial applications.
With a paint line opening of 66 incheshigh by 32 incheswide and a maximum paint length of 29 feet, the equipment has the ability to paint a wide variety of product shapes and sizes, according to the release. That translates to outstanding painting performance for everything from small casted parts to larger and heavier fully assembled components, panels and break shapes.
The new line has six spray booths with electrostatic Nordson spray equipment, both bells and handguns. It is fully enclosed to reduce contamination of airborne debris, thus insuring a pristine surface finish. Other features include a 5-stage chrome phosphate inline pretreatment system, which conforms to AAMA standards, and a state-of-the-art 150-foot long bake oven.
Gabe Manza, sales director, Northeast Canada at the Mississauga plant, noted the advantages of these new capabilities for customers. “We are a full AAMA-certified applicator for 2603, 2604 and 2605 paint products," he said in the release. "Our expertise in specialized architectural and commercial products, combined with the new horizontal paint line, allows us to offer single source capabilities for our customers. Together with our integrated extrusion and fabrication operations, we represent a ‘one stop shop’ that provides unmatched service to the market.”
