Akzo Nobel increases price of IGU sealant component by 15 percent

Officials at Akzo Nobel Functional Chemicals GmbH & co KG, Germany,announced a global price increase for all Thioplast products by round 15 percenteffective March 1, or as contracts allow, according to a March 7 release.

This increase has been prompted by a general increase of costs along with a tight supply and demand balance for polysulfide resins, according to the release. Overall demand for these products continues to grow with the recovery of the construction and aerospace industry.

Polysulfides are semifinished liquid elastomers, used in sealants for insulating glass, aircraft fuel tanks and high-end applications in the construction industry.
