Nippon Sheet Glass, Tokyo,continues to perform well despite “challenging but stable” market conditions, according to a Feb. 7 Liverpool Daily Post report. The glass manufacturer employs around 1,300 people in St Helens and Ormskirk, U.K.
For the nine months to Dec. 31, 2010, NSG recorded a net income (profit) of £13 million or $20.9 million, up from a loss of £244 million or $392.9 million the previous year, even though revenues fell 2 percent.
NSG officials said markets for its building products division, which makes glass for residential and commercial property developers, were stable.
