Alu-Pro, Italy, a global leader in the production of aluminum spacer bars for insulating glass units, plans to increase the price for its entire product range throughout the international markets, according to a Feb. 1 release. This price increase is a result of the continually rising cost of the raw material on the London Metal Exchange, the global metal trading center.
Another factor contributing to the price rise is pressure from lamination prices, and the significant growth in energy and shipping costs. The price hikes, which may be as much as 15 percent, will take effect in March 2011, according to the release.
The Alu-Pro plants operating in Italy, Denmark, Poland and Russia produce almost 400 million linear meters of aluminum decorative and spacer bars for insulating glass units.
Alu-Pro, together with Fenzi, Italy, and Rolltech, Denmark,is an active member of the Glass Alliance network, an international organization that distributes and markets worldwide everything necessary for the industrial production of insulating glass units.
