NGA's online training expanded nationwide

The National Glass Association, McLean, Va., unveiled a national alliance with Education To Go (ed2go), a leading education and training content provider that is part of Cengage Learning.This alliance will make the NGA’s best-in-class training and certification programs available to students at more than 1,900 colleges, universities, community organizations and other education providers across the United States, through ed2go’s vast partner network.

ed2go officially launched three National Glass Association Career Training Programs on Sept. 7. The three programs--Certified Auto Glass Technician, Certified Architectural Glass Technician, and Certified Window and Door Installer--include nearly 200 courses now availableon MyGlassClass.comand MyWindowClass.com. In addition, each career training program comes with a 40-hour unpaid internship for further student learning, a training manual, and a voucher for students to take the appropriate certification exams through the NGA.

“We’re very excited about the extended reach ed2go will provide for the content originally developed for our training platforms,” said Phil James, NGA president and CEO, in the Sept. 7 release.“Students will now have access to a comprehensive array of courses in auto glass, architectural glazing, and window and door installation. What's more, ed2go allows us to penetrate the local communities where our members are located, helping to build a safer and more skilled workforce for our industry and its customers for years to come."

The NGA’s training programs will comprise a new segment of ed2go’s skilled trade Career Training Program catalog, providing an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their skills in this industry.

“We are honored that our content has been recognized by a nationally acclaimed organization like ed2go,” said David Walker., NGA vice president of Association Services, in the release.“They are extremely selective in the online course ware they offer through their network, so this alliance is a positive reflection on our work, as well as that of our educational alliance partners.”

MyGlassClass.com and MyWindowClass.com, the learning management systems behind each career training program, offer internally developed content, as well as course ware produced in collaboration with other respected industry organizations, including Architectural Testing, York, Pa.; the American Architectural Manufacturers Association, Schaumburg, Ill.; the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance, Ottawa, ON; theGlass Association of North America, Topeka, Kan.; and Contact Point, St. George, Utah.
