Fifteen hurt when ice shatters glass in Sony Building

Fifteen people were injured on Saturday [Feb. 27]night at a Midtown Manhattan high-rise after the ceiling of a glass atrium was shattered by falling ice, the authorities said Sunday [Feb. 28].

The ice fell from the 32nd floor of the 37-floor high-rise — the Sony Building at 550 Madison Ave. between 55th Street and 56th Street — striking two 3-feet by 5-feet glass panels at about midnight, the authorities said, according to a Feb. 28 report in The New York Times.
