Stuart Chambers is to step down as chief executive of Nippon Sheet Glass Co. to spend more time with his family, after a stint of a little more than a year as one of the few foreigners to head a Japanese company.

Nippon Sheet Glass, which makes glass used in cars, construction and for the production of electronics, said on Wednesday [Aug. 26] Chairman Katsuji Fujimoto would assume the CEO post from Oct. 1 while the company searches for a permanent replacement.
