The AIA 2009 National Convention and Design Exposition, hosted by the American Institute of Architects, Washington, D.C., kicked off April 30 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

JE Berkowitz LP, Pedricktown, N.J., showed several new glass products, including a geometric point support system that features curves and shaped glass pieces.

JE Berkowitz LP also showed its Invisawall point support system with insulating glass.

AIA attendees packed a seminar session about the future of Energy Star, EPA Energy StarChallenge: Architects Doing Their Part to Prevent Climate Change.

Vetrotech Saint-Gobain, with U.S. offices in Auburn, Wash., teamed up with Greenlite Glass Systems, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, to create fire-rated glass floors.

Oldcastle Glass, Santa Monica, Calif., showed several building integrated photovoltaic systems at its booth.

Guardian Industries, Auburn Hills, Mich., also introduced its SunGuard BIPV system made of thin film photovoltaics.
Glass artist Chris Cosma, Brooklyn, describes the 4,000-square-foot art glass installation at the Viacom lobby in Times Square, completed with optical crystal from Schott, with American headquarters in Elmsford, N.Y.
