Norwegian scientists have developed a new method for the manufacture of solar panels, allowing them to reduce costs by 90%. In particular, Professor Ursula Gibson and PhD Frederick Martinsen of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology patented technology to produce solar panels from the raw silicon. They argue that this method will not only give the opportunity to save significant producers of raw materials, but also has much more energy.
At the heart of the proposed technology is the production of scientists fiber optic cable from fiber glass and silicon, silicon core diameter of which is only 100 microns. It is this consumption minimizing silicon material reduce the cost of production of solar panels for more than 10 times.
At the moment, is being tested first working version of the new model of solar cell, as well as work to eliminate the problems associated with their performance.
