The world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry is underway

Post Time:Jun 12,2015Classify:Industry NewsView:528

Intersolar Europe, the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry, has reopened its doors today, with more than 1,000 exhibitors set to present their products and services at Messe München until June 12.  A diverse program of events and presentations is complementing the exhibition segment, providing in-depth insights into current market and technological trends as well as the key topics of the exhibition.

It is anticipated that approximately 40,000 visitors will attend the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry from June 10–12, while more than 1,000 exhibitors are due to showcase their products and services on an exhibition area of 72,000 square meters. Meanwhile, the Intersolar Europe Conference program began at the ICM – Internationales Congress Center München on June 9. Here, a total of around 1,100 attendees are expected to listen to 200 conference speakers until June 10.

Global Market Outlook report predicts that PV capacity may triple within five years

The global photovoltaics market is booming. According to SolarPower Europe (formerly EPIA), new photovoltaic installations with an overall capacity of at least 40 gigawatts (GW) were connected to the grid worldwide last year. China, Japan and the USA recorded the most significant growth. The association estimates that within five years the total photovoltaic capacity installed globally could triple in comparison to today’s figures to 550 GW. A detailed overview of how the markets are expected to develop is revealed in the Global Market Outlook for Photovoltaics 2015-2019 report published by SolarPower Europe at the start of Intersolar Europe. The growing share of solar power in the grid has also resulted in new topics affecting the industry, with energy management and grid integration both playing increasingly important roles. Europe remains extremely crucial to the development of the solar industry, as the considerable expertise acquired here in the past few decades is helping to fuel the expansion in capacity worldwide.

The key topics of the year

Following on from the fall in the feed-in tariff, numerous new solar power business and financing models have emerged. From on-site consumption and rental and leasing models for PV plants to new types of operating company and the direct marketing of solar power, today there are many ways of generating solar energy economically and marketing it to make a profit. Above all, on-site consumption is becoming more and more attractive to private producers and, in particular, companies. Energy storage systems and intelligent energy management systems, ranging from smart homes to microgrids, optimize, regulate and monitor the generation and consumption of energy, ensuring that it can be made available efficiently and continuously. These are just some of the topics being discussed at Intersolar Europe, the Intersolar Europe Conference and during the exhibition’s accompanying program.

Highlights of Intersolar Europe 2015

The opening day of the exhibition is dedicated to outstanding technical innovations. The Intersolar AWARD is being presented in the categories of Photovoltaics and Solar Projects in Europe from 4:30pm (Innovation Exchange, hall B3, booth B3.450). Visitors have the opportunity to find out about the nominated projects during short presentations held between 10:30am and 3:00pm, where they can also learn more about industry trends and challenges.

Our energy supply system is becoming smarter and smarter. Energy management systems from smart homes to the microgrid are the focus of the Smart Energy Solutions track taking place at the Innovation Exchange on Thursday, June 11 from 12:00pm to 3:15pm.

Applied workshops give visitors to Intersolar Europe the chance to deepen their knowledge. One of the topics covers financing solar projects in emerging and developing countries, and is set to see representatives of solar companies and financing experts introduce sample projects. Together with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the German Solar Association (BSW-Solar) is organizing a workshop entitled From Niche to Mainstream – Falling Costs of Solar Open New Market Segments for Solar Applications. Further workshops turn their attention to solar park auctions, on-site PV consumption models, the new energy label for solar thermal systems, and PV installation and battery recycling (all in hall B1, room B11).

Intersolar Europe has joined forces with the East Bavarian Technology Transfer Institute (OTTI), BSW-Solar and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) to dedicate, for the first time, a separate platform to the growing market of off-grid PV and hybrid systems. In addition to the program on offer at BSW-Solar’s booth (hall B1, booth B1.558), the OTTI conference entitled Small PV Applications – Rural Electrification and Commercial Use also forms part of the Off-Grid Platform, and is being held prior to the exhibition at the ICM – Internationales Congress Center München on June 9 and 10.

Visitors can find out about technological developments and legal conditions for environmentally friendly heating by attending the presentations at the Forum on Renewable Heating which take place on all three days of the exhibition (hall B4, booth B4.131). For the first time, visitors to Intersolar Europe do not have far to travel to network with experts from the pellets industry. This is due to the 14th Pellets Industry Forum and the ENplus-Conference taking place in parallel with Intersolar Europe at the ICM – Internationales Congress Center München from June 11–12.

Parallel energy storage event

This year, ees Europe, the continent’s largest exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems, is running in conjunction with Intersolar Europe for the second time. More than 320 exhibitors are presenting the entire spectrum of energy storage solutions at the two exhibitions. The growing significance of this topic is showing no signs of abating, since as the proportion of electricity generated from renewable sources continues to increase, so too does the need for energy storage devices to absorb peaks in production and relieve the load on the power grid.

Intersolar Europe 2015 takes place from June 10–12 at Messe München.

Intersolar Europe is supported by the leading solar industry associations: the German Solar Association (BSW-Solar) as an exclusive partner, the German Solar Energy Society (DGS), SolarPower Europe (formerly EPIA), the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation (ESTIF), the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), SEMI (Europe), and the platform for photovoltaic production equipment within the German Engineering Association (VDMA-PV).

About Intersolar

With events spanning four continents, Intersolar is the world’s leading exhibition series for the solar industry and its partners. It unites people and companies from around the world with the aim of increasing the share of solar power in our energy supply.

Intersolar Europe is the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners. It takes place annually at the Messe München exhibition center in Munich, Germany.

The event’s exhibition and conference both focus on the areas of photovoltaics, PV production technologies, energy storage systems and renewable heating. Since being founded, Intersolar has become the most important industry platform for manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, service providers and partners in the global solar industry.

In 2014, 1,082 international exhibitors and 42,380 trade visitors attended Intersolar Europe. Around 200 speakers and around 1,100 conference attendees discussed current industry topics and shed light on the background of technological, market and political developments.

With over 20 years of experience, Intersolar has the unique ability to bring together members of the solar industry from across the world’s most influential markets. Intersolar exhibitions and conferences are held in Munich, San Francisco, Mumbai, Beijing and São Paulo. These global events are complemented by the Intersolar Summits, which take place in emerging and growing markets worldwide.

In 2015, ees Europe, the international exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems takes place for the second time in conjunction with Intersolar Europe. ees Europe is covering the entire value chain of innovative battery and energy storage technologies.
