Fuyao Glass America, Inc. will unveil the first item produced by workers at the company’s Moraine plant on Thursday, the Dayton Development Coalition said Tuesday.

The presentation is set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Carillon Historical Park, when a commemorative windshield will be signed and placed into Dayton History’s displays during the ceremony, the coalition and Fuyao said.

The windshield is to be placed next to a white GMC Envoy, the last vehicle produced at the Moraine facility in December 2008. General Motors, and before that, Frigidaire, operated the plant for decades.

Fuyao Glass America purchased 1.4 million square feet of space at the plant for $15 million in May 2014.

Globally, the Chinese company has 18,000 employees. With a target of more than 1,500 employees at full operational scale, the company will employ 400 individuals at the Moraine plant by the close of calendar year 2015, government officials expect.
