Invopak has launched a new glass containers range, as part of its broader commitment to
bring sustainable packaging solutions to the UK market.
The launch is in line with the UK government’s Resources and Waste Strategy, which
emphasises the importance of infinitely recyclable materials.
Invopak procurement lead Elise Wilkes said: “Sustainability is one of the packaging industry’s
biggest challenges. Glass is reusable, and it recycles forever, making it a more eco-conscious choice.
“We’ve introduced our new glass products in response to customer demand, and
they’re a great addition to our technical packaging range.”
The latest collection includes glass vials that are suitable for sampling.
Elise added: “Our borosilicate glass containers are specially designed for lab use;
they can withstand the high temperatures and harsh chemicals necessary for scientific research.
“We’re also offering amber glass as an option, which protects the contents
against light damage as well as clear soda glass jars and bottles.”
Glass is recognised as one of the most recycled materials in the UK, with an
approximately 74% recycling rate for container glass, as reported by the government.
The Waste and Resources Action Programme notes that incorporating recycled
glass into manufacturing processes can reduce energy consumption by up
to 30% and significantly decrease carbon dioxide emissions.
Public perception of glass as a recyclable, nontoxic, and high-quality material reportedly
makes it particularly suitable for the food and drink, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical
sectors, which are among Invopak’s primary customers.
