Iconic glass cube at NYC Apple store to be removed, reinstalled

Work has begun at the Fifth Avenue Apple store in New York City to completely remove the unique and iconic glass cube entrance, and to thenreinstall it, according to a June 16 report from ifoAppleStore.com.Building permits confirm the company will spend about $6.6 million to completely remove the glass and its sophisticated connection hardware, make upgrades to the surrounding plaza structure, and then reinstall the cube. The permits don’t hint at why the cube is being replaced, according to the ifoAppleStore.com report.
